Meet My Inspiration: Team Purrfectly Handmade

My name is Rachel and I initially started All Things Blankets & More back in the spring of 2010 after spending many cold nights of the previous winter snuggled up on the settee under a duvet with my kitties (pictured below).

I've always enjoyed sewing and knitting; having been taught by my mum from an early age; so I started by making myself a large animal print blanket that would look good as a throw when not in use.
Next I turned my attention to my kitties; experimenting with different fabrics and styles; taking into account shapes & sizes based on the positions they slept in. Most importantly I considered the fact that they would at some point need to be washed.

After many hours of designing, sewing & knitting, getting the cats approval and with a little help from hubby Phill who created my banner; All Things Blankets & More was ready to be released into the real world.

Angel was my main product tester until he passed away in 2012 and then we fell in love with Maine Coons, the gentle giants that love to 'help' with everything. In 2013 Tyri and Cersei took over the testing mantle. Sadly Tyri passed away suddenly in Jan 2016 and I struggled to do any crafting for a few months.

UPDATE: During 2016 I made the decision to go self employed full time and joined the Professional Crafters Guild but as the year went on I realised that All Things Blankets & More had moved on and the name no longer reflected the direction the business was heading so took the major plunge re-branding and re-naming the business.....Jan 2017 and Purrfectly Handmade arrived. Cersei continues to be my main tester now and with our latest additions of Azzie & Coby, two more Maine Coons, I know I'll have three 'helpful' testers to turn to.
